Christian Frazier, CPSRecovery Counselor
As a Recovery Counselor at Bluff Plantation, Christian Frazier works with patients to promote long-term recovery from substance use disorders by providing experienced peer support and recovery coaching.
Christian leads group sessions focused on relapse prevention and developing recovery skills such as financial literacy, resume building and interviewing for jobs. He also works individually with patients, helping them overcome barriers to recovery, set goals, develop the tools and structure to accomplish their goals, and practice self-care.
Christian also facilitates All Recovery meetings at Bluff Plantation. All Recovery, an alternative to 12-step programs, is a secular approach to recovery that encourages self-empowerment, social engagement and the belief that there are multiple pathways to long-term sobriety.
In working with patients, Christian draws from his personal experience with addiction and recovery. In 2008, after a lengthy struggle with substance use, Christian achieved sobriety. Five years later, stressful life events led to a relapse. He got sober a second time, and returned to his management job at a payroll services firm. But he knew his calling was elsewhere.
Determined to help others rebuild their lives, he began volunteering for Young People in Recovery (YPR). YPR is an advocacy group that helps teens and young adults in recovery from addiction find housing, education and employment. He eventually took over as chapter lead. In 2016, Christian became a certified peer specialist. He joined Bluff Plantation later that year.
